User Interviews is best known for recruiting, and many teams also keep their own participant panel in its Research Hub. Moving to Great Question usually means moving that panel, then running the sessions, scheduling, incentives and analysis in the same place you recruit.

You don't have to give up the User Interviews panel to do it. Enterprise accounts can still recruit from the User Interviews panel (7.5M+) inside Great Question, alongside Respondent (4.3M+). This guide covers moving the part you own: your participants, their history and your recordings.

What moves across, and what doesn't

Participant records move cleanly as CSV. Two things need a workaround: Research Hub labels and custom notes aren't included in the export, so you carry them over another way.

Before you start

  • Check your contract dates. User Interviews doesn't publish what happens to Research Hub data after cancellation, so export everything you need before the contract ends and confirm the terms with your account team.
  • Plan for consent. There's no documented way to export Research Hub consent records. Add a column with each person's opt-in date to your export, and use your first Great Question invite to confirm they're still happy to hear from you.
  • Clean the list first. Moving is a good moment to drop bounced emails and people who haven't responded in a year. Our panel migration guide covers how to do that without losing engaged participants.

Step by step

1. Export your Research Hub panel

Export your participants from Research Hub as a CSV. It carries email, name, your custom fields and participation history. Labels aren't included (User Interviews help), and table view settings don't carry into the file, so check the columns before you close the tab.

To keep labels, filter the Hub by each label, export that group, and add a column with the label name. Merge the files into one spreadsheet afterwards.

2. Export project applicants

For any live or recent project, open Applicants, then Actions, then Export data. The CSV arrives by email within about 15 minutes and includes screener answers and demographics. Contact details are only included for confirmed participants unless you have the premium screening add-on (User Interviews help).

3. Download recordings and transcripts

If you used User Interviews' recorder for Zoom, Google Meet or Teams sessions, download the video files and transcripts you want to keep (User Interviews help). If your sessions were recorded in Zoom directly, skip this step: Great Question can import them straight from Zoom.

4. Import into Great Question

  1. Attributes first: create any multiple-values attributes, such as labels or product areas, before you import. A column that creates a new attribute during import comes in as text.
  2. Participants: go to Candidates, Add Candidates, Import from CSV. Map each column, choose email as the unique identifier, and decide how duplicates are handled (importing candidates).
  3. Recordings: go to Repository, New, Upload files, or choose Import from Zoom. Link each recording to its participant, and transcripts generate automatically (uploading recordings).

5. Set up scheduling and incentives

Connect your calendars and set up incentives before your first study, so participants can book a slot and get paid automatically when the session is complete. Incentives go out through Tremendous to 80+ countries.

6. Run one study in parallel, then cut over

Invite a small segment of your imported panel to a real study while User Interviews is still live. Check that attributes filtered correctly, invites landed, and incentives paid. Then move the rest of your recruiting across.

Talk it through with us

Every panel is shaped differently. Bring your Research Hub export to a demo and we'll show you how it maps onto Great Question before you import anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep using the User Interviews panel after I switch?

Yes, on Enterprise. Great Question recruits from the User Interviews panel through an integration, so you can move your own panel and workflow and still source external participants from User Interviews. Self-serve accounts recruit from Respondent.

Does the Research Hub export include labels?

No. User Interviews' help centre says labels aren't included in the Research Hub CSV export. Filter by each label, export that group, and add the label as a column before you import.

What happened to User Interviews?

UserTesting acquired User Interviews in January 2026. User Interviews says it remains a standalone product, with no changes to pricing, contracts or participant sourcing.

How long does it take to move a participant panel?

The import itself takes minutes. Most teams spend about four weeks overall: a week exporting and cleaning the list, a week setting up, and two weeks running a study on both tools before cutting over.
